Here they are! The Suttles Squad entered in the Danny Mardell knockout Challenge at Upton Park on Saturday the 23rd May 2008, and didn't they do well! The event, organized by and in aid of the Downs Syndrome Association, the Suttles team, from an initial entry of 36 teams, were able to progress to the quarter finals, beating Soccer AM on the way, see below!

(back row, left to right) Robbie Yates, Jamie Marshall, Mark Watson, David Best, Adam Dorey, Rob Scadding, Matt Suttle, John Scott.(front row, left to right) Richard Best, Jason Beale, Darren Bye(capt.) Andy Suttle, Kevin Stacey

The call first went out in January to find players to represent our Company at this prestigious event. Suttles have long been associated with the Downs Syndrome Association with both Roger Funnell and Chris Suttle doing major fundraising events. The response to our plea for players was fantastic and we were so lucky to enlist the help of Robbie Yates of "Between the Sticks" to select the team and lick them into shape in just three sessions.

The team stayed at the Quality Hotel in West Hams Grounds where the rooms are the executive boxes with direct views on to the Upton Park pitch.

Supporters traveled up the following day by Coach from Poole.

Reaching the Quarter Finals was an excellent result bearing in mind the fact that the team had been put together for this competition and were playing against teams who had played regularly together. The standard of football was very good and knocking out the "Soccer AM" team before being knocked out by a 1 - 0 margin by the previous years winners completed what was an excellent day.

Robbie Yates the team Coach said " As the coach for the Suttles FC it was a pleasure to work with a great bunch of people the balance was spot on, The attitude, working ethics, determination from every player was fantastic. Between the sticks was delighted to link up with Suttle Stone Quarries the professionalism shown from the company (Chris & Roger) was first class. I would like to thank John Scott for his help during the time with the team. What a fantastic weekend it turned out to be. Well done to everyone involved for Sue's organisation skills & Chris Suttles support made my job so much easier. Thanks so much

The East Enders Stars playing in their usual "Walford Boys Club" strip added extra show biz appeal to the day with the stars posing for pictures with players and fans alike.

Looking forward to next year!
